Creig Matthieson
Creig has been serving at St Ives Country Club since 1993. The Tennis Program has more than doubled in participation, resulting in Three Hundred and Fifty plus participating in Men’s, Women’s and Junior Tennis Players.
Prior to joining St Ives Country Club Creig served as Director of Tennis at Las Colinas Country Club a premier development in Irving, Texas, from 1988 to 1993. Creig also served as Director of Tennis at the University Club of Dallas from 1982 to 1988. In 1985 the University Club was recognized as having the Premier Tennis Program of the Clubs owned by Club Corporation of America. Creig spent has Assistant Professional years at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels, Texas and Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas.
As a Junior Tennis Player Creig held State rankings in Texas and played for the University of Texas/Dallas collegiate team. Creig graduated with a BBA doubles major in finance and marketing. Creig also played on the USA Junior Tennis Europe Team in 1976, selected from fifteen juniors in the Southwest to compete abroad in ITA Junior Tournaments in eight countries.
In 1992 Creig won the City of Irving Tennis Championships in Mixed Doubles as well as a finalists in Doubles. In 1983 he represented the Texas Pro Team where his Team won the USPTA National Championships. Since coming to Atlanta Creig has won many championships at the AA Level.
As a coach, Creig was instrumental in developing the Dallas Junior Excellence program for ranked players. Creig also worked with the former ATP Pro Bill Scanlon, who achieved a Top Ten World Ranking with over one million in Tournament winnings. Tom Cain ATP Tour and SMU player, Creig has also coached a handful of other players who have obtained college scholarships. Many of these players are now teaching tennis. At St Ives Country Club Creig and his staff have coached numerous ALTA and USTA champions for both adults and juniors.
Creig has been a certified member of the USPTA with a pro 1 rating for the past twenty-five years. He also has held Board Positions for the Tennis Organizations, served as Co-Tournament Director for the USPTA National Championships, and served as co-convention chairman for the TPTA.
Stuart Marcus
Stuart Marcus joined the St Ives Tennis Staff in the winter of 2001. Stuart grew up in Brampton, Ontario Canada, where he was a top national junior player. Stuart is a graduate of Jacksonville State University and received a full scholarship to play collegiate tennis JSU (Division 1).
Prior to St Ives Country Club, Stuart coached at Brampton Tennis Club and Belfountain Tennis Club where he was Head Tennis Professional for 6 years. He is a USPTR Certified at the highest level of Professional. He was married in 2003 to his wife Jessica and has a daughter Sasha Elizabeth, born on April 16, 2007.
Grant Gelina
Grant is a Graduate of The University of Missouri in 2006 majoring in Communications.
Grant’s Professional Teaching Background includes Windward Lake Club in Alpharetta Ga; Mission Hills Country Club in Kansas City, Crestview Country Club in Wichita Kansas and Teaching independently in the Atlanta area.
As a Junior Tennis Player Grant was ranked Top 75 in Boy’s 18’s Nationally. His college playing experience consisted of playing Division I Tennis at The University of Missouri Kansas City and The University of Montana.
Grant is a dynamic adult and junior instructor. Please welcome Grant to St Ives CC.
