During the month of July, the men will continue to play the popular Match Play Championship with the final match occurring on July 25th. Both the net and the gross division will have 16 players left for finals on July 23th – 25th. Plan on being a spectator for the final matches if you are not playing in the event, as the competition is fierce.
A new event this year is a two-man match play event, that starts in July and runs through November. Be sure to sign up by July 6th. The Junior Golf programs are in full swing. Our last junior golf & tennis camp is scheduled for July 13th – 16th so please do not miss it. Also, there is one more golf only camp scheduled to begin on July 27th-July 29th. Be sure to sign your child up as there are only a few spots left.
July is also the month for the annual Junior Club Championship. This is when we find out which up and coming young talents are ready to become champions. We have different age groups for boys and girls. Play starts on July 20th and concludes on July 21st. Tee times begin at 10:00 am on day one and 10:30 am on day two. Be sure to sign your child up.
I look forward to seeing you on the links!

This month we are going to talk about maintaining your posture through impact. One of the common issues I see with students not making solid ball contact is their inability to maintain their posture. We talked a couple months ago about getting into the proper posture now lets talk about maintaining it.
From May’s Newsletter: Posture is the angle your spine makes relative to the ground and how straight your spine (or back) is just before you start and during the golf swing. A consistent golf swing is a rotational motion where the spine stays straight and at the same angle and the body rotates around the spine like a door rotates around a hinge. When you set up to hit the golf ball you need to get your back very straight and at a slight angle to the ground. Once in this position the key to a consistent golf swing is allowing the shoulders and body to turn around the spine and maintaining a straight back and the spine angle you started with.
The best way to maintain your posture is during the swing keep your hips rotating, keep your arms extended during and after impact, and watch the ball leave the clubface. If you do these three things it is much easier to maintain your posture and your ball striking will improve. If you lift your head up to see where the ball is going before impact your shoulders will follow and your arms and the club head. This normally leads to hitting it really low, topping the ball, or even whiffing it. So keep both arms straight and keep your head down and watch impact.
Your ball striking and your scores will improve.
With the golf season kicking in and great weather on the weekends, the Golf Staff will be pairing any twosomes that have a tee time booked as needed. This will allow more members to enjoy the golf course and keep the pace of play moving smoothly.
Golf outings are an important revenue source for the Club, so please call the Golf Shop with any referrals for an event that you are going to host, or if you know of any charity events that may be looking for a new home. We will show our appreciation for the referral with some complimentary guest rounds for any event that books.
